Sauce | Hoisin


Hoisin comes from the Chinese word seafood. The actual name origin of Hoisin remains a mystery.However, because it does not contain any seafood.


Hoisin is a sauce made from fermented soybean paste, garlic, vinegar, sesame oil, chili, sugar and any thickeners. It is a thick brown sauce with a sweet, slightly salty umami taste. Hoisin is often used in wok dishes, marinades and dipping sauce. In Cantonese cuisine, it is often used with stir-fried meats and vegetables.Hoisin is also widely used in various marinades and as glazes for BBQ meat.In Vietnamese cuisine, hoisin is used more as a dipping sauce for the spring rolls or as a seasoning for the pho soup.
