Dessert | Bánh da lợn
Bánh da lợn is a Vietnamese steamed cake with layers. It is made from tapioca flour, rice flour, coconut milk, water and sugar.
Depending on what kind of cake it is, it can also have a mung bean, durian or taro filling. The cake is mainly green in color because of the pandan extract they use, but these can also be purple in color. The bánh da lợn has a jelly soft texture and a sweet taste. In Indonesia and Malaysia they call it kuih lapis and in Thailand kanom chan (ขนมชั้น), there they don't have a special filling.
