Jackfruit is often confused with durian because of its appearance, yet they differ greatly. Not only the taste but also the smell is different!

Jackfruit is available in 2 types: the ripe yellow jackfruit and the unripe green Jackfruit. The ripe yellow jackfruit is seen as a fruit, it is sweet and is eaten with other types of fruit in for example che-like desserts. It is also processed into jackfruit chips and jackfruit ice cream.

The unripe green jackfruit is more regarded as a vegetable. This unripe jackfruit is therefore used as a meat substitute in various dishes because of its meaty structure, which resembles pulled pork. However, the taste is neutral, but according to some people it is also comparable to chicken.
