Sweet chili sauce is one of the basic sauces in Asia. It is especially popular in Thailand and Malaysia.

Sweet chili sauce is a slightly clear, thick sauce with chunks of chili and sometimes garlic in it. It is made from chili, sugar or fruit, vinegar, fish sauce and any thickeners. Often the sweet chili sauce is served with fried snacks, fish or meat. There is also another variant, the spring roll sauce, which is very similar to the sweet chili sauce, but there is grated carrot in the sauce. Note the percentage of chili on the bottle, this shows how hot it can be.
